Term 1

This term we will be settling into school, making up our Class Treaty and practising our routines.

For homework, please check your child's book bag each night. Their book bag will contain a book that your child will have read at school. You can support your child to re-read this book and always discuss what you have read, asking lots of questions to develop your child's comprehension.

Also in their book bag will be a notebook. In the front of the notebook you will find word lists. Please help your child to recognise and read these words as part of homework too.

Watch this space for more information about what we are doing this term.

* Our library day is Tuesday.

* Swimming is daily (weather dependent).

* Please note that Term 1 is a NO HAT, NO PLAY term and all children need a named hat at school.

Are Our Oceans Okay?

As we work on  inquiry we will be learning about the world's oceans. It is great to see the class so interested and bringing in things from home to share such as newspaper articles, books and even fish bones!!

Our Wonderings:-

  • Which is the biggest ocean?
  • Do jellyfish still sting when they are dead?
  • How do the oceans get damaged?
  • How do they get the creatures into Kelly Tarlton's?
  • Do fish sleep?

Please use the above questions to prompt discussion with your child at home.

Trip to Kelly Tarlton's

What a great time we had at Kelly Tarlton's. We learnt about different sea creatures and saw stingrays being hand fed. We saw beautiful seahorses, starfish and we couldn't believe our eyes when we spotted the fat puffer fish! Penguins certainly do fly through the water and we were excited to see the baby King Penguins. Being able to hold a shark's jaw and touch a piece of shark skin was a highlight of our day.

Enjoy the rest of our photos.....

Easter Craft  2.4.12

A BIG thank you to Emma and Raphael, 2 lovely mums who came to help us make Easter cards, Easter baskets and bookmarks. We learnt lots of new skills..... like how to use a hole punch, how to use stamps with ink pads and how to clean our stamps afterwards. Our Easter baskets look amazing. I wonder if the Easter Bunny will like them too!!!??
